Nievo, Ippolito - The Castle of Fratta (Published in London by The Folio Society. 1954. First printed in 1867 and regarded as a classic in Italian fiction, centered around a gloomy castle in Northern Italy still living in a Feudal past. Nievo was a soldier-poet and lieutenant of Garibaldi. He was lost at sea in 1861 aged 30 but left behind an epic novel which has long been recognized as a classic of Italian fiction.
